Today marked the Celebration Party for the Runescape Comic Contest! We all had a wonderful time, and shall not forget it anytime soon.

This thread is for discussion of the Official Event. In addition, I will be posting my Event Account below for all to see.

Have fun!

The Event today was a total success! I was able to meet a great number of wonderful players, have a nice long chat with two brilliant Jagex Moderators, Mod Paul M & Mod Howes, and thank everyone for their contribution.

Some entrants into the Runescape Comic Contest were unable to attend; I am sorry that you had to miss out on such a great Community Event, but our thoughts were with all of you (some of the time ). To make up for this, I have compiled a small Event Digest, to let you know what went on.

The Runescape Comic Contest Celebration Event

At 22:00 GMT, I found myself running from my training ground, the Stronghold of Security, parallel to the North wall of Falador. I muttered 'I'm late, I'm late, I'm very very late!' under my breath as I checked the Runescape Events Clock (no references to Alice & Wonderland ), and I hastily took a look at my mini-map, to see how the party had progressed. As it happened, I saw only a few white dots in the party room. My breathing slackened somewhat, and I was content to walk the distance from the East Bank to the Event Headquarters. When I came near to the doors, I could see nothing but pure, white light. I took a deep breath, and walked through it...

The Falador Party room was almost empty; I was early. I took a look around me, and tried to recognise everyone there; there was Party Pete and his pet; there were a small number of players present; and, standing in his pink skirt and Yellow Party Hat, was Mod Paul M. I walked forward and introduced myself, and I was greeted with friendly responses in return. We then had an enjoyable discussion, while the other players turned up, one by one.

We saw a great number of familiar faces there; Jiblix, in his Mining Skillcape, Lightrune46, Tyrutu (the guest of honour), Laieta, and many more. But, most excitingly of all, Mod Howes was able to attend! Complete with his aviator outfit and dwarven hand cannon, Mod Howes helped to take the discussion to greater heights still. With more and more players arriving, both contest entrants and friendly community members stopping by, everyone had somebody with similar interests to talk to, and some very interesting topics were breached.

As we were such a small group, there were no 'Bring back wild pl0x!' requests and the like being made. Therefore, we were able to have a friendly, constructive and in-depth conversation with Mod Paul M & Mod Howes, and we got to know them a lot better. The Runescape Community was the hot topic today, and we were very excited to hear about Mod Howes's plans for an incredible Thanksgiving Events programme. We also got to hear a little bit about Excl's visit to Jagex, which was great fun as well .

The current Thread of the Week, ~~Have You Made Your Chain?~~ (QFC: 14-15-514-59747843), was discussed enthusiasticly at the Event. The thread is very well written, and is expressed in story format for the most part for entertainment, but the message behind it is what really makes it stand out. ~~Have You Made Your Chain?~~ discusses the effect that we can have on other people, based upon the way that we treat them; not just in Runescape, but in any situation in Real Life. Showing a player around Lumbridge, providing directions, and even taking them through an easy quest can make a world of difference to them, and may even determine whether or not they will continue to play Runescape at all. In addition, by showing help and kindness, we are setting them an example as to how they should act, so that when they are experienced at Runescape, they will show their support to a new player as well. This sets the Community in an upward spiral, and helps it to grow into something incredible. The wonderful players that attended the Event with me were keen to discuss this concept, and I was very pleased to hear their views.

The Runescape Comic Contest has been an incredible experience; I have discovered a wonderful Community, MMOHub, met a group of amazing, Community Focussed players, and been introduced to two brilliant Jagex Moderators. This is an experience that I will never forget, and I will be sure to keep in touch in game.

I would therefore like to say a big thank you to Jagex; especially to Mod Paul M, Mod Howes, and the Community Managment Team. I would also like to give MMOHub & Serpentius a round of applause, as they have worked with Jagex until the end to support the competition. Lastly, I would like to thank all of the players that took the time to enter; without you, we would not have had a competition at all!

Thank you for all of your work, help and support; I am very much looking forward to the next Competition!

Wow, that was an awesome event recap Halo Zone X!

Thank you so much!

Even without screencaps I could imagine the fun time that ensued. I only wish I had been able to attend, as even though I was unable to get my original account back in order in time, I was going to create a new account when I was pulled away to help a friend at the last minute.

So I'm glad things turned out so well, and thanks again everyone for their amazing efforts that made this event such a success!

I was sorry to see that you could not make it, Serpentius, but we still had a great time. At least you get to read about it here.

Thank you for the MMOHub Contribution Achievement; it looks really awesome!

Arctic Monkeys? I have never heard of that before. However, I can assure you that the event was much more enjoyable than any kind of concert.

I am sorry that you could not attend; why not try an event by one of the brilliant Runescape Event Teams?

Lol let's be a bit real now, something happening in real life that is exciting is slightly more enjoyable than a bunch of players talking with each other at the Falador party room. Only someone who dwells in the game too long would think otherwise.

Lol, during weekdays, I sometimes play no Runescape at all! Although, when exams are over, that may change a little bit .

I suppose it is a matter of preference; I would personally rather have a chat to Community Minded players and Jagex Moderators in the Falador Party Room than have my ear drums destroyed at a concert... But some people would probably say the opposite. ^_^

I always make sure to take regular breaks when playing a lot of Runescape at one time; as with all things, ballance is important. That said, I like to make the most of my weekends, when I have time available to do so, as opposed to weekdays, when I often do not manage to play Runescape at all.

As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, playing video games should not cause any harm; in fact, they are very beneficial for your brain, as they provide a fun and stimulating challenge. So I would not worry about playing too much Runescape, Lightrune. ^_^

Hmm... Are you suggesting that Jiblix plays too much Runescape, and is therefore unable to post on this thread?

The best of luck to him with that. I look foreward to seeing it. =)

I certainly agree with Jiblix on this matter; getting a Crafting Skillcape is much more fun than going to a concert! (though this is just my oppinion, of course ).
